Privacy Policy
What Helix AI collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Effective 26 July 2026. This Privacy Policy explains what Helix AI collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Using Helix AI is also subject to our Terms of Service.
What we collect
Helix does not collect your contacts, location, or anything from your microphone outside an active voice session. There are no ads and no sale of personal data.
- Account basics from Google Sign-In: your name, email address and profile picture.
- Personalization you enter (Settings → Personalization): what to call you and a short profile, saved to your account to tailor replies.
- Your chats, ONLY if you turn on chat backup (Settings → Privacy). Backup is off by default.
- Subscription and credit records: your plan, credit balance and purchase history.
- Safety records: when a message, reply, character or image request violates our content policy, an excerpt of the flagged content and the surrounding conversation is recorded with your account to enforce our usage rules.
- AI images you create: the picture and the prompt that made it are stored on your account so they can be reopened, edited and shown in your chats. Delete any of them from the image viewer.
- Support messages you send us (including app logs, when you choose to attach them).
- Basic technical logs kept on your device to help diagnose problems.
Safety monitoring, please read this
The on-device model (Qwen) works offline; only cloud features, cloud models, web search, photos and live voice talk, need an internet connection. If you believe a flag was a mistake, appeal it in Settings → Support and our team will review it.
Helix monitors conversations for content that violates our content policy. Only policy violations are recorded, ordinary conversations are not stored by this protection.
When a message violates our policy, an excerpt of the flagged content and the surrounding conversation is recorded on your account so we can enforce our usage rules. The consequences of violations are set out in our Terms of Service.
Where your chats live
- Replies are generated on your phone and chat history is saved on your phone.
- Chat backup is OFF by default. Switch it on in Settings → Privacy and chats also save to your Helix account, so they survive reinstalls and move to a new phone; turn it off anytime.
- Backup is text only, photos and documents you attach are never uploaded; a restored chat shows the file’s name in their place.
- When you use a cloud model (Helix Lite, Standard or Ultra), that conversation’s messages are sent to a third-party AI provider to generate the reply, used only to produce the answer, not stored there. The on-device Qwen model is different: it runs entirely on your phone, so those messages are never sent to anyone.
AI images, and photos you edit
A photo you attach to EDIT is uploaded. This is the one exception to the rule above: ordinary chat attachments never leave your phone, but an image edit cannot happen without sending the picture to the AI provider that performs it.
- Your prompt, and any photo you attach to it, are sent to our AI image provider to produce the picture. They are used to generate it, not to train models.
- The prompt, any uploaded photo, and the finished picture are each checked automatically against our content policy. This check is what refuses unsafe requests; it is not a person reading your prompts.
- The generated picture and its prompt are stored on your account until you delete them. Only your newest images are kept; older ones are removed automatically over time.
- Saving an image puts a copy in your phone’s gallery. That copy is yours and is not tracked by us.
Voice features
- The mic in the message box uses your phone’s built-in speech recognition to turn what you say into text you can review before sending.
- Live talk (any paid plan) sends your speech to our AI provider to be transcribed, then answers. The spoken reply is generated on-device, nothing is sent to be voiced.
Services we rely on
Helix uses a small number of third-party services, each receiving only what it needs to work: Google Sign-In (authentication), Google Play (payments), our AI infrastructure providers (cloud-model replies, document and image generation, live-talk speech transcription, and automated character review), a content-safety provider (automated screening of image prompts, uploaded photos and generated pictures), a web search provider (searches made on your behalf when a cloud model needs live data), and Hugging Face (one-time model downloads).
Your data, your controls
- Chat backup is your choice: off by default, one switch in Settings → Privacy either way.
- Delete any chat from its ⋯ menu, if it was backed up, it is removed from your account too.
- Delete any AI image from its viewer; that removes the picture from your account and from this phone.
- Settings → Delete account permanently removes your account, chats, documents, AI images, support messages, personalization and billing records from our servers. Minimal records are kept solely to prevent repeated free trials and so deleting the account can’t reset an active safety pause or erase confirmed policy violations.
- Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on the phone; chats already backed up to your account remain until you delete them or your account.
Changes & contact
We may update this policy as the app evolves; when it changes meaningfully you will be asked to read and accept it again. Questions or data requests: Settings → Support, or helix.ailab@gmail.com.
